Matt and Grace's wedding was held at Tatum Park on the Kapiti Coast, a perfect backdrop for what these two had planned! A huge bonfire, sparklers, marshmallows, outdoor dance floor with amazing disco lighting and dry ice. Homemade iceblocks for the kids (and the "big kids"). The culmination of a craft beer brewing competition held amongst their close friends – including some pretty intense tasting, voting and ultimately a winner! The venue meant that mostly Wellington-based family and friends could stay over – some under canvas, some in the various accommodations available at Tatum.
Rain the morning of the wedding day gave us gorgeous, vibrant backgrounds to work with (rain is not always a bad thing on your wedding day!!) Although we were so pleased it held off for Plan A – a beautiful outdoor ceremony officiated by one of their dearest friends. G+M chose to have a “first look” and wedding party photos before the ceremony which really worked in their favour as they could spend as much time as possible with their family and friends. First looks aren’t for everyone but they are gaining popularity –we find the bride and groom really appreciate having more time to celebrate their day, than be off taking photos for a big part of the event.
The morning after was also expertly planned – a much appreciated coffee cart, swimming in the Tatum Park pool (great way to get rid of hangovers) and sumo wrestling all made this one of the most entertaining and visually spectacular weddings we’ve had the pleasure to photograph.
